I have never considered myself “an athlete” but a couple of years ago, I was challenged to do 100 push-ups a day for a year. I trained pretty hard, just doing 100 pushups a day, but varying my angles and speed as I did them. Through the years, my body started to change for the better. I became stronger, more cut – I started turning my body into an “athlete’s body.” Months later, when the contest day arrived – at a convention in Whistler, Canada – I was ready. I proceeded to rely on my training and pumped out 91 (hands-up) pushups in 2 minutes. I was able to surpass people almost half my age, ironmen athletes, and other “athletes.” In short, I didn’t win, I blew away the competition – at 53 years of age. It was a lesson in breaking through those limiting beliefs that each of us has.
